Ingredients:
1 carrot grated
1 yellow onion diced
Olive oil
3 cloves minced garlic
Salt
Pepper
Half lb ground beef (85/15)
Half lb ground Italian sausage
Oregano
Garlic powder
Tomato paste (Italian)
Cento peeled tomatoes
Cento crushed tomatoes
Fresh basil
1-2 TBSP white sugar
Optional red pepper flakes
Cooking Instructions:
Grate carrot and dice onion. Add into pan on medium heat and saute for 5-7 mins until onion is translucent. Add in ground beef and sausage and break up then brown for about 5-7 min. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add a tsp of oregano and tsp of garlic powder and stir in. Make a little well and add a tbsp of tomato paste and cook for 1 minute then mix into meat. Add peeled tomatoes by crushing with your hands one by one then pour the juice left in the can into the pan. Fill can about a third of the way with water and add in. Then add the can of crushed tomatoes and fill can with about a third of the way with water and add in. Then add in 5-6 fresh basil leaves and stir. Add in a tbsp of white sugar and a little more salt and pepper. Simmer for 1 hour covered with a small crack for evaporation. Spoon on to your favorite pasta dish and enjoy!
